Θεατρική (εγ)γραφή στον πλατωνικό Μένωνα

Abstract:

First impressions notwithstanding, Plato’s Meno is a dialoguethat not only features familiar motifs of dramatic poetry but also points to itsown performance in a self-referential metatheatrical manner. The present paper comments on the relevant textual evidence, namely (a) the “tragic” (τρα-γική) definition of colour (76e); (b) the role of Meno’s slave and Anytus asSocrates’ interlocutors; and (c) questions pertaining to (what Aristotle wouldhave identified as) the opsis of the Meno, to wit the staging of the dialogue.
